Hi, my name is Alex Hykel
I am a qualified and experienced carpenter, and alongside this I am a craftsman, artist and designer.
I run my own carpentry business, called Hykel Carpentry, and I have a wealth of experience which allows me to offer a world class service.
I have previously working for various building companies. I’ve been a multi-trader for Jewell Plumbing and Property Maintenance. I’ve been a wardrobe fitter for Sharps Bedrooms. I’ve worked as a site carpenter for Burgess Projects. These roles combined, have given me considerable experience in all sorts of property work, and a great understanding about how to respect and take care of peoples homes.
Before I became a domestic carpenter, I worked in the theatre world. I have made costumes, props, sets, and puppets. I’ve created shows, working alongside all sorts of talented creatives. I’ve also run workshops for families and children. These took place in schools, festivals, and local events. I called these workshops ‘Puppets and Pandemonium’ and they allowed the participants to explore their creative abilities through the medium of puppetry. All my experiences in this fascinating field have given me the skills to be very confident around people of all ages.
I am a sole trader, trading under the name Hykel Carpentry. I have an NVQ 2 in site carpentry, and have passed the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification. I hold Public Liability Insurance to the Value of 2 Million pounds, which covers me to work as a Carpenter and Joiner.
